Jakarta – Beberapa bulan lalu, seorang penyelam asal Kanada berhasil merekam spesies ular laut yang disebut langka di perairan lepas Pulau Komodo, Indonesia. Ular ini didokumentasikan di dasar laut dengan kemampuan kamuflase yang unik.
Sang penyelam, John Roney, membagikan pengamatannya melalui unggahan instagram. Ular yang dilihatnya yaitu marine file snake (Acrochordus granulatus).
“Salah satu ciri ular laut favorit saya adalah kamuflasenya yang unik,” ujarnya dalam unggahan di akun @roneydives, dilihat Senin (17/11/2025).
Spesies Purba yang Masih Hidup
Mengutip Animal Diversity, marine file snake memiliki habitat di perairan sepanjang wilayah pesisir Asia Tenggara, Australia utara, dan pulau-pulau sekitarnya. Ular ini bisa ditemukan di kedalaman 4 hingga 20 meter.
Beberapa jenis marine file snake diketahui merupakan spesies purba yang masih eksis sampai saat ini. Ular ini berbeda dengan kelompok ular laut sejati yang hidup di Samudra Indo-Pasifik.
Spesies Acrochordus granulatus termasuk hewan akuatik yang bernapas menggunakan paru-paru. Untuk mengambil udara, ular purba ini muncul ke permukaan, mirip seperti mamalia laut.
